Italy’s Merighetti, Swizterland’s Feuz Win World Cup Downhills

Italy’s Daniela Merighetti and Switzerland’s Beat Feuz won World Cup skiing downhill races in their home countries.

Marchetti finished with a time of 1 minute, 33.17 seconds in Cortina d’Ampezzo to beat Lindsay Vonn of the U.S. by 0.21 seconds. Defending World Cup champion Mari Hoefl-Riesch of Germany was third.

Feuz captured the men’s race in Wengen in a time of 2:35.31. Austria’s Hannes Reichelt was second, 0.44 seconds behind, with Italy’s Christof Innerhofer a further 0.49 seconds back in third.

Vonn coninutes to lead both the women’s overall and downhill season standings. Austria’s Marchel Hirscher leads the men’s overall ranking with Feuz atop the downhill standings.
