Chrysler Boosted Production 27% to Almost 2 Million in 2011

Chrysler Group LLC increased North American production by 27 percent to almost 2 million vehicles last year and plans a 20 percent boost for 2012.

The company’s output of cars and trucks in the U.S., Canada and Mexico totaled 1.57 million in 2010, according to a statement on the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker’s website.

Chrysler’s assembly plants will ship 2.4 million vehicles this year, Dan Knott, senior vice president of purchasing and supplier quality, said today at the Automotive News World Congress conference in Detroit.

Chrysler is majority owned by Fiat SpA. (F) Sergio Marchionne, chief executive officer of both automakers, plans to merge the companies by the end of 2014 to achieve a target of more than 100 billion euros ($127 billion) in revenue.
