Taiwan Stock-Market Movers: Epistar, Hannstar Display, Qisda

Shares of the following companies had unusual (TWSE) moves in Taiwan trading. (TWSE) Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 9:18 a.m. local time in Taipei.

The Taiex Index rose 0.9 percent to 7,156.75, set for the highest close since Dec. 1.

Epistar Corp. (2448) (2448 TT) fell 1.6 percent to NT$62.30. The light-emitting diode maker said December sales fell 22 percent to NT$1.12 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

Hannstar Display Corp. (6116) (6116 TT) lost 2.7 percent to NT$1.84, set for the biggest retreat since Dec. 19. The flat panel maker said December sales dropped 26 percent to NT$2.51 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwanese bourse.

Qisda Corp. (2352) (2352 TT) increased 3.1 percent to NT$6.58, set for the highest close since Dec. 5. The electronics maker’s December sales rose 16 percent to NT$6.93 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement to Taiwan’s exchange.
