Areva Has Hired Nomura to Advise It on Urenco, Les Echos Says

Areva SA has hired Nomura Holdings Inc. (8604) to advise it on Urenco Ltd., the uranium enrichment company owned by the U.K., Germany and the Netherlands, French daily Les Echos reported, citing unidentified people.

The U.K. wants to sell its stake in Urenco, Les Echos said. Areva wants to stop the company from falling into the hands of the Chinese or the Koreans, and could be interested in making a bid, Les Echos said. Urenco is valued at about 3 billion euros ($3.8 billion), according to the newspaper.

Areva declined to comment, Les Echos added.
