Zimbabwe’s Mugabe to Miss ANC Centenary Event, Herald Says
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will miss this weekend’s celebration of the centenary of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress because he is on leave in the Far East, the state-owned Herald newspaper reported, citing George Charamba, Mugabe’s spokesman.
Mugabe’s deputy, Joice Mujuru, will represent him at the event in Mangaung, in South Africa’s central Free State Province, the Harare-based newspaper said. The ANC had previously said Mugabe would attend.
