New York Yankees Catcher Jorge Posada Plans to Retire, ESPN Says

New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada is planning to retire after 17 seasons with the club, ESPN reported on its website.

Posada, 40, is expected to make an announcement in the next two weeks, ESPN said, citing a source it didn’t identify.

Posada batted .235 with 14 home runs and 44 runs batted in last season. The five-time All-Star has a .273 average with 275 homers and 1,065 RBI since joining the Yankees in 1995, helping the team win five World Series titles.
