Czech Republic Defeats France to Win Hopman Cup Tennis Title

The Czech Republic defeated France to win tennis’s Hopman Cup for the second time.

Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova beat Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-1 and Tomas Berdych defeated Richard Gasquet 7-6 6-4 to give the Czech Republic a 2-0 victory in the best-of-three final in Perth, Australia. The Czechs previously won the annual mixed- team competition in 1994.

Kvitova, No. 2 in the WTA Tour rankings, was unbeaten in her four singles matches in the competition, including a victory over top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. Berdych, ranked seventh on the ATP Tour, also won his four singles matches.
