Cedeno Agrees to One-Year Deal With New York Mets, NYT Reports

Venezuelan infielder Ronny Cedeno has agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.1 million with the New York Mets, the New York Times reported.

Cedeno, 28, may play second base if the Mets trade Daniel Murphy, or may be a backup middle infielder, the Times said.

Cedeno has played seven seasons with the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners and most recently the Pittsburgh Pirates, batting .246.

The deal is contingent on Cedeno passing his physical, according to MLB.com.
