Simon Bridges Named Chairman of N.Z. Finance Select Committee

Simon Bridges was elected chairman of the New Zealand parliament’s finance and expenditure select committee, which is responsible for reviewing fiscal and monetary policy decisions.

Bridges is a member of the governing National Party which was re-elected in November. His deputy will be party colleague Paul Goldsmith, according to a statement on the parliament website.

Other committee members include opposition finance spokesman David Parker, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters and Green Party co-leader Russel Norman.
