Brazilian Stock Movers: Petrobras, PDG Realty Rise as HRT Sinks

The following companies had unusual (IBOV) price changes in Sao Paulo trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close of trading. Preferred shares are usually the most-traded class of stock.

The Bovespa (IBOV) index advanced 2.5 percent to 59,264.87.

HRT Participacoes em Petroleo SA (HRTP3) (HRTP3 BS) plunged 13 percent to 505 reais, a record low. The company said its 1-HRT- 4-AM onshore well in Brazil’s northern Solimoes Basin may produce as much as 250,000 cubic meters of natural gas and 300 barrels of condensate a day after concluding formation tests, according to a regulatory filing. The company was expected to also find oil in the well, according to Ricardo Correa, an analyst at Rio de Janeiro-based brokerage Ativa SA.

PDG Realty SA Empreendimentos & Participacoes (PDGR3) (PDGR3 BS) climbed 1.9 percent to 6.35 reais. Brazil’s biggest homebuilder by revenue said in a filing its fourth-quarter contracted sales rose 16 percent from a year earlier to 2.04 billion reais ($1.11 billion).

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PETR4) (PETR4 BS) added 3.9 percent to 22.41 reais. Brazil’s state-controlled oil company said it found crude and natural gas of “excellent quality” at the Tambuata well in the Golfinho field off the country’s southeastern coast, according to a regulatory filing today.
