Florida State Beats Notre Dame, Baylor Tops Washington in College Bowls
Florida State University scored the game’s final 18 points to defeat the University of Notre Dame in college football’s Champs Sports Bowl, and Baylor University beat the University of Washington 67-56 in the Alamo Bowl.
Florida State (9-4) trailed 14-0 in the third quarter before getting two touchdown passes from EJ Manuel and two field goals by Dustin Hopkins to win 18-14 against the Fighting Irish (8-5) in Orlando, Florida. The Seminoles scored 15 points in the final period, including two touchdowns in a 96-second span.
In San Antonio, Terrance Ganaway rushed for 200 yards and five touchdowns as Baylor (10-3) outscored the Huskies (7-6) in a game that featured almost 1,400 yards of total offense by the two teams.
Robert Griffin III, who won the Heisman Trophy as the best college player in the nation this season, passed for 295 yards and had two touchdowns. Ganaway had all five of his scores in the second half, including touchdown runs of 89 and 43 yards.
Quarterback Keith Price accounted for seven touchdowns for Washington, four on passes and three on runs.
