Work Starts on Sahara Mining’s Mali Steel Plant, Essor Reports

Sahara Mining SA, an iron-ore explorer that operates in Mali, has started construction on a plant to process steel, l’Essor reported, citing a ceremony with President Amadou Toumani Toure.

Sandeep Energy & Steel, which includes a 70-megawatt, thermal power plant, will be in operation by 2013, the Bamako- based, state-owned newspaper reported. The factory’s cost is seen at 150 billion CFA francs, it said.
