Australia Reaches 179-8 to Lead India by 230 Runs in Opening Cricket Test

Australia reached 179-8 in its second innings on day three of the series-opening cricket Test against India in Melbourne to take an overall lead of 230 runs.

Mike Hussey finished unbeaten on 79 at stumps with James Pattinson 3 not out on a day when 15 wickets fell. Hussey shared a 115-run partnership with Ricky Ponting, who made 60, to rally Australia after the home team slumped to 27-4.

India earlier lost seven wickets for 68 runs to be bowled out for 282 in reply to Australia’s first-innings 333.
