China Punishes Officials for Corruption in Construction: Xinhua

A total of 15,109 Chinese officials were punished in the past two years for construction-related corruption or dereliction of duty, Xinhua News Agency said today, citing a central government agency it didn’t identify.

The officials received disciplinary or administrative penalties between July 2009 and November 2011, and 7,891 cases were transferred to judicial organs for handling, the official news service reported. China has checked all government-funded building projects initiated and conducted since 2008, it said.
