Algeria’s Wheat Imports Rose 42% in First 11 Months of This Year

Algeria’s wheat imports increased 42 percent to 6.91 million metric tons in the first 11 months of this year compared with 4.86 million tons in the same period last year, according to customs data.

The value of the wheat shipments more than doubled to $2.6 billion from $1.13 billion, the data showed. Soft wheat imports climbed 45 percent to 5.26 million tons and shipments of durum wheat increased 32 percent to 1.64 million tons, it said.

The biggest suppliers of wheat to Algeria during the period were the U.S., France and Canada, the data showed.
