Renfe, National Express May Join to Bid in U.K., Expansion Says

Spain’s state-owned freight and passenger-train operator Renfe Operadora SC and National Express Group Plc (NEX) are in talks to form an alliance to bid for train- management contracts in the U.K., Expansion reported, citing unidentified people in the industry.

A joint venture would allow both companies to more aggressively compete against other bidders including state-owned groups from France, Germany and the Netherlands or companies such as FirstGroup Plc (FGP), Stagecoach Group Plc or Go-Ahead Group Plc, the newspaper said.
