Monti Wins Confidence Vote on Italian Budget in Lower House of Parliament

Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti’s government won a confidence vote in the lower house of parliament on a 30 billion-euro package of austerity and growth measures.

A final vote will be held this evening before the package passes to the Senate, which is set to vote on the plan on Dec. 23.
