Thailand Stocks: Hydrotek, PTT Exploration, Sri Trang, Stars
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok.
The SET Index rose less than 0.1 percent to 1,024.16.
Rubber producers: Sri Trang Agro-Industry Pcl (STA) , Thailand’s biggest publicly traded rubber producer, decreased 1.1 percent to 18 baht. Thai Rubber Latex Corp. (Thailand) Pcl (TRUBB) lost 1.8 percent to 3.30 baht.
Rubber futures tumbled the most in five weeks in Tokyo as a decline in crude oil prices and Europe’s debt crisis cut the appeal of the commodity used in tires and gloves.
PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP) , the nation’s only publicly traded oil explorer, slipped 2.9 percent to 167.50 baht, the largest drop since Nov. 1.
Crude oil yesterday slid 5.2 percent to $94.95 a barrel in New York, the lowest close since Nov. 4.
Hydrotek Pcl (HYDRO TB), a water management company, jumped 40 percent to 4.76 baht in its trading (SET) debut. The company, whose shares are traded on the Market for Alternative Investment, sold 30 million shares at 3.39 baht each this month in an initial public offering.
Stars Microelectronics (Thailand) Pcl (SMT) , a maker of electronic parts, lost 2.5 percent to 9.75 baht, the lowest close since Dec. 6. Net income slid 85 percent to 22.1 million baht ($705 million).
