Taiwan Stocks Movers: Acer, Compal Electronics, Taiwan Fructose

Acer Inc. (2353 TT) lost 0.9 percent to NT$33.90. The world’s fourth-largest computer maker said November sales fell 12 percent to NT$36 billion ($1.19 billion) from a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange yesterday.
Compal Electronics Inc. (2324) (2324 TT) retreated 1.2 percent to NT$27.95. The world’s second-largest laptop maker said November sales fell 25 percent to NT$53 billion from a year earlier, according to a statement to the stock exchange. Separately, the company was rated “hold” in new coverage at Samsung Securities Co.
HTC Corp. (2498) (2498 TT) increased 2.7 percent to NT$426. The smartphone maker filed a complaint in Taiwan against an employee of Citigroup Global Markets over an alleged violation of the island’s Securities and Exchange Act, Huang Mou-hsin, deputy chief prosecutor at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, said by telephone today. Huang declined to identify the person or give more details. Annie Lu, HTC’s director of public relations and corporate communications, and Michelle Liao, Citibank Taiwan’s director of corporate affairs, declined to comment on the report.
Taiwan Fructose Co. (4207) (4207 TT) advanced 1.1 percent to NT$9.30. The sugar syrup maker plans to buy back 6 million common shares, according to a company statement to Taiwan’s stock exchange yesterday.
