Dia, Electricite de France, E.ON: Europe Equity Market Preview

The following companies’ shares may have unusual moves in European (SXXP) trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index declined 1.9 percent to 236.05. The Stoxx 50 Index (SX5P) fell 1.6 percent to 2,288.08. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index (SX5E), a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, slumped 3.1 percent to 2,269.46.

Distribuidora Internacional de Alimentacion SA (DIA SM): The discount food retailer known as Dia said it will enter Spain’s benchmark Ibex 35 Index on Jan. 2. The stock rose 1 percent to 3.31 euros.

Electricite de France SA (EDF) : The largest utility in France is ready to force the sale of a stake in Edison SpA it jointly owns with Italian investors after talks on unwinding the partnership stalled, people with knowledge of the matter said. The stock fell 2.4 percent to 19.23 euros.

E.ON AG (EOAN GY): The largest utility in Germany said in a statement on DGAP newswire that it will book a 3 billion euro ($3.95 billion) impairment charge in 2011. The stock dropped 4.6 percent to 17 euros.
