U.S. Stocks Gain on Report G-20 Weighing $600 Billion IMF Lending Program

U.S. stocks extended gains after Nikkei reported that the Group of 20 nations is considering a $600 billion International Monetary Fund lending program to halt Europe’s debt crisis.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index climbed 0.5 percent to 1,264.70 at 3:43 p.m. in New York.
