SABMiller’s Tanzanian Unit Posts 77% Rise in First-Half Net

SABMiller Plc (SAB)’s Tanzanian unit said first-half profit jumped 77 percent as sales increased.

Net income surged to 74.7 billion shillings ($45 million) in the six months through September, from 42.2 billion shillings a year earlier, Tanzania Breweries Ltd. (TBL) said in an e-mailed statement published in the Dar es Salaam-based Guardian newspaper today. Sales climbed 32 percent to 386.5 billion shillings, it said.

The company said it was looking to boost capacity after “strong” growth in its business over the past year. “Accordingly, the board has postponed the declaration of an interim dividend to later this year, pending the outcome of this review,” it said.
