French Privacy Regulator CNIL Looking Into Carrier IQ Software

France’s data-protection agency CNIL is reviewing usage-tracking software Carrier IQ on mobile phones to confirm whether privacy rights have been violated, Elsa Trochet-Mace, a spokeswoman for the regulator said in an e-mail today. Initial findings have shown the software is not in use in France, she said.
