Enercon, SWB Start Hydropower Plant Using Windmill Technology

Enercon GmbH said a 56.5 million- euro ($75 million) hydropower plant that’s using modified wind- turbine technology started producing electricity today.

The 10-megawatt hydropower plant at the Weser river in Bremen, Germany will create enough power for 17,000 households, the maker of wind turbines said in a statement posted on its website today. Enercon will operate the plant in a joint venture with regional utility SWB AG, it said.
