Egypt’s Meditrade Said to Buy 33,000 Tons of Sunflower Oil

Meditrade, a private Egyptian commodities buyer, purchased 33,000 metric tons of sunflower oil today, two traders involved in the tender said.

Meditrade bought 15,000 tons of sunflower oil from Quadra and 18,000 tons from Nidera Inc. for $1,094.75 a ton, including the cost of freight, according to the traders, who declined to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak to the media. The company bought an additional 6,000 tons of soybean oil at 6,670 Egyptian pounds ($1,110.70) a ton from Wataniya for arrival in January, they said.

The vegetable oil is for arrival from Jan. 15 to Feb. 7, according to the traders. Meditrade buys commodities on behalf of the Egyptian government.
