Chilean Stocks: Almendral and Entel Advance; Ripley Retreats
The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.
The Ipsa (IPSA) index rose 0.1 percent to 4,057.82. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index retreated less than 0.1 percent to 2,174.28.
Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones SA (ENTEL) rose 1.5 percent to 9,895.9 pesos. Chile’s second-largest mobile telephone operator announced it would merge with local data, fixed-line, cable TV and Internet provider Grupo GTD.
Almendral SA (ALMEN) , Entel’s controller, advanced 3.9 percent to 71 pesos, the steepest gain in 16 weeks.
Ripley Corp SA (RIPLEY) fell 0.8 percent to 451.74 pesos, its fifth day of losses and its lowest price since Oct. 18. Chile’s third-largest department store operator has retreated 4.1 percent in the last two days after announcing Nov. 25 third-quarter profit that trailed analysts’ estimates.
