Pakistan has closed the routes used by U.S. military supply convoys heading to Afghanistan as a result of the attack. It also has told the U.S. to leave an air base in southwest Pakistan that was used as a launching point for Predator drones.
The formal probe by U.S. Central Command announced today would supplement the findings of an initial assessment team sent to the scene by Marine General John Allen, the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said.
“The expectation is that Centcom will lead the investigation,” Little told reporters at the Pentagon today. “General Allen requested that Centcom lead this review.”
