Spanish Catalonia TV Won’t Offer Soccer Next Season, Mundo Says

The Catalonian government’s television station won’t broadcast soccer games next season as it will cut the budget by 40 million euros ($53 million, El Mundo reported, citing the regional TV director Monica Terribas.

The broadcasting of other sports, including Formula One races, may also be affected, the newspaper reported, adding the Spanish regional government has also proposed to cut salaries.

Antena 3 de Television SA (A3TV) shares climbed 5.3 percent to 4 euros today, while Mediaset Espana Comunicacion SA rose 1.7 percent to 3.82 euros.
