Spain’s regional government of Extremadura gave initial approval to 65 wind-energy projects, bringing the total number of wind parks being developed in the area to 97, with a power capacity of 1,692 megawatts.
The developers have six months to present plans and environmental impact reports to receive final authorization, the Extremadura administration said in a Nov. 22 statement.
Iberdrola SA (IBE) and Sacyr Vallehermoso SA (SYV) yesterday announced they were among project developers for the region in southwestern Spain bordering Portugal.
