Russia Equity Movers: Rosneft, Rusal Shares Decline in Moscow
The 30-stock Micex Index dropped 4.8 percent to 1,390.56 at the 6:45 p.m. close in Moscow, its lowest closing position since Oct. 13. The dollar-denominated RTS Index fell 4.7 percent to 1,424.97.
The following were among the most active stocks in the Russian market today. Stock symbols are in parentheses:
OAO Rosneft (ROSN RX) and OAO Lukoil (LKOH RX), Russia’s two largest oil companies, fell as crude futures dropped 1.3 percent to $96.14 a barrel in New York. Rosneft lost 5.6 percent to 203.42 rubles and Lukoil declined 4.2 percent to 1,643.60 rubles.
United Co. Rusal (RUALR RX), the world’s biggest aluminum producer, declined to the lowest level on record as prices for the metal sank. The company’s Russian depositary receipts lost 4.6 percent to 232.08 rubles, the weakest since they started trading in 2010. Aluminum on the London Metal Exchange slid 1.1 percent to $2,086 a metric ton.
