Posco (005490) ChemTech Co. and Tokai Carbon Co. signed a contract to form a venture to produce isotropic graphite.
The unit of South Korean steelmaker Posco will hold 60 percent of the venture, which will have an annual capacity of 4,000 metric tons by the end of 2014, and the Japanese partner will own the rest, according to an e-mailed statement from Posco today. Isotropic graphite is used in semiconductors, solar cells and light-emitting diodes.
