Latvia May See Further Emigration in Next 3-4 Years, Leta Says
Latvia, a country of 2 million, may see 100,000 people emigrate in the next three or four years, the Leta newswire reported, citing Mihails Hazans, a professor at the University of Latvia.
A poll carried out at the beginning of the year found that 9 percent of people between ages 18 and 65 are considering leaving the country in the near future, while another 17 percent would consider emigrating, said Hazans, a labor economist, according to the Riga-based newswire. About half of the first group and a fifth of the second group will probably leave, he said, Leta reported.
