Jets Coach Ryan Fined $75,000 by NFL for Cursing at Fan at Patriots Game

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan was fined $75,000 by the National Football League for directing a profanity at a fan during the team’s loss to the Patriots on Nov. 13.

Corry Rush, a National Football League spokesman, confirmed the fine in an e-mail.

The incident occurred as Ryan was leaving the field during halftime of the team’s 37-16 loss to New England at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Ryan responded to criticism from a fan with profanity. The coach apologized the following day.

It’s the second time Ryan has been fined while with the Jets. In February 2010, Ryan was fined $50,000 for making an obscene gesture at a mixed martial arts event in Miami.
