New York Police Said to Arrest Man Allegedly Plotting Bomb Attack in City

New York police have arrested a man who was allegedly planning to build and explode a bomb in an attempt to kill government workers and military personnel, a person familiar with the matter said.

The man had been under surveillance for more than a year, according to the person, who declined to be identified because the matter isn’t public. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. are scheduled to hold a press conference at 7:30 p.m. New York time.
