AT&T Sees ‘A Lot of Challenges’ for Windows Phone Ecosystem
AT&T Inc. (T) sees “challenges” for Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Phone in its attempt to pull market share from Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Google Inc. (GOOG) Android smartphones, Glenn Lurie, the company’s head of emerging devices, said.
“I think we’re still going to see a lot of challenges,” Lurie said at a Morgan Stanley conference in Barcelona. “I’m actually a fan of the Windows devices, I’m also very excited about Windows 8 on the tablet devices, but you’re still going to have a lot of people competing for that space.”
He also expects increased competition from Research in Motion Ltd. (RIM), he said, adding that carriers want competition in smartphones.
