Paris prosecutors are conducting a preliminary inquiry into an insider trading complaint filed against Guy Wyser-Pratte by Electricite et Eaux de Madagascar (EEM), Investir said today, without saying how it obtained the information.
France’s financial markets regulator, the Autorite des Marches Financiers, is also reviewing allegations Wyser-Pratte used inside information to buy shares in Groupe Gascogne SA, in which EEM owns 27.5 percent, and raise his stake in EEM, the magazine said.
Wyser-Pratte didn’t immediately respond to an e-mail from Bloomberg News seeking comment on the report. Calls by Bloomberg News to the AMF and prosecutors about the inquiries also weren’t immediately returned.
