Former South Africa Rugby Player Tyibilika Is Shot Dead in Cape Town Bar

Former South African rugby player Solly Tyibilika, a flanker who played eight Test matches for the Springboks, was shot dead in a bar near Cape Town, the South African Rugby Union said.

Tyibilika, 32, born in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape province, made his Test debut in 2004 against Scotland in Edinburgh, scoring a try in the match, the union said in an e- mailed statement yesterday.

Two other people were wounded during the incident when two men stormed into the KwaNtozi tavern in New Crossroads at around 2:20 p.m. in Cape Town on Nov. 12 and started shooting, the Johannesburg-based Star newspaper reported.
