The following companies are having unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 10:37 a.m. in Santiago.
The Ipsa index fell 0.3 percent to 4,326.03. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index slumped 0.7 percent to 2,436.14.
Cencosud SA (CENCOSUD CC) rose 2 percent to a four-month high of 3,230 pesos. Chile’s biggest retailer by sales is about to complete the acquisition of Brazil’s supermarket chain Prezunic Comercial Ltda. for about $430 million, O Estado de S. Paulo reported, without saying where it got the information. Executives from both companies declined to comment, the Sao Paulo-based newspaper reported.
Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC), Latin America’s largest container shipping company, gained 1.3 percent to 149.9 pesos. CSAV has rallied 5.9 percent in the three days since announcing talks with Royal Boskalis Westminster NV to combine their regional towage operations.
Soc. Quimica & Minera de Chile SA (SQM/B CC) slid 1.1 percent to 28,900 pesos. The Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB Commodity Price Index declined for the first time in three days, signaling reduced demand for SQM’s fertilizer exports.
