Chilean Stocks: CSAV, Lan Airlines, Invertec, Multiexport Foods

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 5:10 p.m. in Santiago.

The Ipsa index rose 1.2 percent to 4,337.83. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index advanced 2.1 percent to 2,452.05.

Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC), Latin America’s largest container shipping company, gained 3.5 percent to 147.94 pesos. CSAV has rallied 4.7 percent in the two days since announcing talks with Royal Boskalis Westminster NV to combine their regional towage operations.

Lan Airlines SA (LAN) gained 0.9 percent to 12,237 pesos. Latin America’s biggest carrier expects shareholders to vote on a planned takeover of Brazil’s Tam SA by the end of December, Lan President and Chief Operating Officer Ignacio Cueto told reporters yesterday.

Invertec Pesquera Mar de Chiloe SA (INVERMAR) advanced 2.4 percent to 128 pesos. The Santiago-based salmon farmer’s third-quarter profit rose to $1.79 million from $290,000 a year earlier, according to data posted on the website of Chile’s securities regulator.

Multiexport Foods SA (MULTIFOO) , a rival salmon producer, climbed 0.9 percent to 143 pesos.
