Angola Polishing Diamonds SA processes $4 million of gems a month, Angop reported, citing Miguel Bondo Junior, director of the company.
The Angolan government sells most of the diamonds in Israel and the polisher’s 400 employees have the capacity to process $20 million of gems a month, Junior told the southwest African country’s state news agency.
Angola produced more than $800 million of gems in 2009, according to data from the Kimberley Process. Its production ranks behind Russia, Botswana and Canada.
