Pimco Hires Three to Bolster Portfolio Analytics Group Under Ravi Mattu
Pacific Investment Management Co., manager of the world’s biggest mutual fund, hired three professionals as the firm bolsters its portfolio-analytics group headed by Ravi Mattu.
Vasant Naik, global head of empirical research, and Riccardo Rebonato, head of rates and foreign-exchange analytics, will be based in London, Newport Beach, California-based Pimco said today in a statement. Stefano Risa, head of mortgage and asset-backed analytics, will be based in New York.
Pimco in February hired Mattu from Citadel Securities LLC, the investment-banking unit of Chicago-based hedge fund Citadel LLC, in a new role as the firm sought to expand its group that helps clients analyze their portfolios. The firm has about 46 professionals in its portfolio-analytics group in New York, London and Newport Beach.
Naik was previously at a unit of Nomura Holdings Inc. Rebonato, who will begin at Pimco on Dec. 1, was formerly at a division of Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc, while Risa was previously with C12 Capital Management LP.
Pimco, a unit of German insurer Allianz SE (ALV), manages about $1.35 trillion in assets. Led by co-chief investment officers Mohamed El-Erian and Bill Gross, the firm manages the $244 billion Pimco Total Return Fund (PTTRX), the biggest mutual fund.
