Paraguay Government Seeks Soy, Corn Exports Tariffs, Nacion Says
Paraguay’s government has asked Congress to approve the introduction of export tariffs on soybeans, sunflowers and corn, Argentine newspaper La Nacion reported, citing Economy Minister Dionisio Borda.
The export tariffs bill that was sent to the Senate three months ago has been opposed by unions and exporters, the Buenos Aires-based newspaper said. The request will not be discussed by Congress until at least April 2012, La Nacion said.
Paraguay is the world’s fourth largest exporter of soybeans.
