Deloitte to Lease Space Near Olympic Park During 2012 London Summer Games
Deloitte LLP will lease two floors in a 12-story building by London’s Olympic Park to entertain clients during the 2012 Summer Games.
Deloitte, one of accounting’s “Big Four” firms, will use about 16,000 square feet (1,486 square meters) of space near the main venues in London’s East End, spokesman James Igoe said. He didn’t say how much the building’s owner, Westfield Group (WDC), will charge in rent.
“During the Games, it will become the firm’s base near the Olympic Park and will be used primarily for meetings and hospitality,” Igoe said in an e-mail. The space will be used for community projects before the Games start on July 27.
Some of the world’s largest companies plan to use the London Olympics to promote their brands. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG will provide 4,000 cars, cycles, motorbikes and scooters as part of a sponsorship deal with the organizers, while Adidas AG will try to use the games to bridge a sales gap with Nike Inc. in the U.K.
Westfield, the world’s largest shopping-center owner, opened a 1.9 million-square-foot mall near the Olympic Park site in September. Stratford City is Europe’s largest urban mall.
Deloitte will lease the space at One Stratford Place from January and will hold onto it until the Paralympic Games end on Sept. 9, Igoe said. The glass and steel building has 130,000 square feet of office space.
