Taiwan Stocks Movers: Acer, HTC, Kinko Optical, Rodex Fasteners
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are at the close of trading in Taipei.
The Taiex Index rose 0.2 percent to 7,621.72.
Acer Inc. (2353) (2353 TT) jumped 6.9 percent to NT$37, the highest close since Sept. 30. The computer-maker may post profits next year after inventory writedowns and costs related to management changes this year, Beyond Asset Management Co. President Michael On said by phone.
Henry Wang, a spokesman for Acer Inc., declined to comment on the company’s earnings.
HTC Corp. (2498) (2498 TT) gained 2 percent to NT$653. The smartphone maker’s October sales rose 39 percent from a year earlier to NT$44 billion ($1.5 billion).
Kinko Optical Co. (6209 TT) surged 6.9 percent to NT$42.65, the biggest advance since Sept. 7, after the company’s October sales gained 60 percent from a year earlier to NT$399 million.
Rodex Fasteners Corp. (5015) (5015 TT) lost 0.9 percent to NT$16.70. The maker of stainless steel wires and screws said October sales fell 35 percent to NT$140 million from a year ago.
