Chilean Stocks: Antarchile, Cap and Empresas La Polar Gain

The following companies are having unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 10:43 a.m. in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 0.1 percent to 4,263.17. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index retreated 0.9 percent to 2,402.10.

Antarchile SA (ANTAR) , controller of Empresas Copec SA (COPEC), Chile’s largest pulp exporter, rose 1.2 percent to 8,200 pesos, the biggest gain since Oct. 28. A unit of Copec agreed Nov. 4 to pay $473.5 million jointly with Brazil’s Klabin SA to buy 107,000 hectares of forest land in Brazil.

Cap SA (CAP) rose 2 percent to 18,850 pesos. Chile’s largest steel producer and iron miner posted a 75 percent increase in third-quarter profit to $143 million from $82 million a year earlier, according to a filing sent Nov. 4 to regulators.

Empresas La Polar SA (LAPOLAR) rose 3.5 percent to 478 pesos, its fourth day of gains. Bondholders of the department store operator agreed Nov. 4 to approve a restructuring of their debt that would avert the company’s second bankruptcy in 12 years.
