Portugal Will Not Call a Referendum on EU Rescue Plan, Lusa Says
Portuguese Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho said his country will not follow Greece in calling a referendum about the European rescue plan, news agency Lusa reported.
Passos Coelho expects Portugal can “apply itself” with even more determination to show the European Union and the world that it will not follow the example of Greece, the Portuguese news agency reported, citing comments made by the prime minister last night. Portugal does not want to be confused with what is going on in Greece, he said, according to Lusa.
