Greek Lawmakers Oppose Referendum Proposal, ANA Says

Greece’s Alternate Education Minister Fofi Yennimatas said she’ll do what she can to avert a referendum being held, state-run Athens News Agency reported, citing comments on a Greek television channel today.

Yennimatas said the government should receive a vote of confidence and then bring the Oct. 26 accord to Parliament for approval, ANA said. Another ruling party deputy, Mimis Androulakis, asked for the referendum proposal to be withdrawn immediately, ANA said.
