Ex-Porsche Chief Backs Signa’s Kaufhof Bid, Handelsblatt Reports

Wendelin Wiedeking, former chief executive officer of Porsche SE, is a shareholder in Signa Holding GmbH and a backer of the Austrian real estate group’s acquisition talks with Metro AG (MEO) for the Kaufhof department-store chain, Handelsblatt reported, citing Signa founder Rene Benko.

Wiedeking approached Metro CEO Eckhard Cordes about the potential deal a few weeks ago, the newspaper said, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.
