Bossi Says Italian Pension Overhaul Would ‘Spark Revolution’

Northern League leader Umberto Bossi, whose party underpins Italy’s ruling coalition, said an overhaul of the retirement system would “spark a revolution.”

“If we take away pensions from workers who’ve always worked and give the money to Rome, we’ll spark a revolution,” Bossi told reporters today in Rome, after being asked whether such a reform may be one of the government’s urgent economic measures to fight the debt crisis.

His comments were broadcast in a video posted on the website of la Repubblica newspaper.
