Barber Says U.K. Pensions Offer Not Judged Acceptable by Unions

Trades Union Congress General Secretary Brendan Barber said new proposals from the U.K. government today aimed at averting a strike by public-sector unions over pension changes are not acceptable.

“We’re a long way from a position where we’ve got offers on the table that might prove acceptable,” Barber told reporters in London. He said there are still “major issues of concern.”
